New Floating Fleet Operator and Gulfstreams Join One-Way Charter Pricing Availability

Growing charter operator Global Air Charter based at STP St. Paul, MN has become the latest of a growing number of floating fleet operators, chartering the below 16-passenger Gulfstream IV-SP and 12-passenger Gulfstream IV with one-way pricing.  Global’s charter fleet also includes a 12-seat Gulfstream III and a Citation Mustang.  Floating fleets are a prominent and growing segment in private jet charter, noted below.

With the update, the FlightList PRO Floating Fleets resource now includes 27 charter operators with 316 jets dedicated to point-to-point pricing, with the ability to request quotes from multiple selected operators at once.  Aircraft types run the gamut of business jets, from light jet to heavy and long range jets.  With the update, below are the totals by category of charter jets available in the U.S. for point-to-point pricing:

Charter pricing with floating fleets can be quite advantageous for one way needs or round trips over many days.  Cancellation terms can vary and be stricter with the pricing advantage and the logistics of point-to-point charter flying.  Most operators are non-cancelable inside 72 hours from scheduled departure while some are shorter or even immediately upon booking.  With this typical business model, most floating fleets are owned by the operator or are under management agreements whereby separate ‘owner approval’ is not required.  Ages of floating fleet aircraft, much like traditional charter fleets, vary from brand new production line aircraft to manufacture dates in the 70’s or 80’s.  All listed operators have at least one independent auditor safety rating, and more than half have 2 or more of the top ratings; ARGUS Platinum, Wyvern Wingman and ISBAO Registered.

Major trading house Sojitz Corp. has set up a company to operate jet planes for wealthy individuals and corporate customers outside Japan in the rest of Asia.

Sojitz set up the subsidiary firm Phenix Jet International LLC in the United States, and has opened an office in Hong Kong, with the aim of offering “business jets” that can accommodate between four and 20 passengers.

The company is hoping to tap into demand for similar aircraft, which is expected to grow among wealthy people in China and Southeast Asia.

In operating the business, Sojitz will keep the jet planes on behalf of their owners and undertake centralized management of their maintenance, arrangement of pilots and operation of flights.

The company has already invested several hundred million yen (several million dollars) in the firm, which will be operated under the “Phenix Jet” brand.

Sojitz is not new to the business sector. It has been operating business jets, mostly in Japan, since 2003, and currently has about 10 jet planes available for the business.

The operation of business jets is flourishing in Western countries. Japan Airlines Co. began operating similar aircraft in France in May.

Demand for the mode of transport is also rising in Asia, partly because they allow efficient mobility in areas that are not served by regular flights. Sojitz expects there will be new demand for 1,000 more business jets in Asia alone over the next 10 years.

Charter Operator Jet Edge International Posts Soaring Numbers

Charter operator Jet Edge International, an industry specialist in long-range and large-cabin private jet charters, announced key business performance indicators that highlight the company’s success, according to a company press release.

“Five years post acquisition, Jet Edge has gained significant distinction by climbing to the top in the business aviation industry and surpassing prominent veteran operators in overall flight hours, safety policies, fleet size, and charter flight activity”

Jet Edge LogoAccording to the company, by total hours flown, Jet Edge is ranked eighth in Aviation Research Group’s “Top US Part 135 Operators” mid-year report, 2016. With nearly 9,000 charter hours flown on-fleet by the midpoint of the year, this ranking establishes Jet Edge within the top 1 percent of more than 1,000 charter operators globally. Last month, Jet Edge ranked first by a magnitude greater than 10 percent when calculating average distance per flight segment, or cycle, on the company’s large-cabin fleet with 1,198 nautical miles per flight segment.

Earlier this year, Jet Edge reached another key milestone by ranking within the top ten domestic charter operators of 2015 by charter hours flown throughout last year. In 2016, the company is on track to move within the top six domestic charter operators by total charter hours flown.

The entire Jet Edge fleet and operator details are available ONLY in FlightList PRO.

Since its acquisition in late 2011, Jet Edge has grown by double digits in nearly every business metric year-over-year, including revenue, staff members, and fleet size. Jet Edge has already added 13 charter jets to the company’s charter fleet in 2016, with another eight in the pipeline for delivery later this year. In June 2016 , Jet Edge announced that it had reached the coveted fifty aircraft milestone, positioning the fleet as the sixth largest charter company by fleet size and second largest exclusively large-cabin fleet in the U.S.

Noted by the company as contributing to its increases are key partnerships they established this year, as well as the company’s existing partnership with Asia Jet in Hong Kong. Additionally, newly established strategic marketing partnerships and large-volume supplemental lift agreements have increased the company’s flight activity by more than 40 percent this year, providing consistent charter revenue to both the company and Jet Edge’s aircraft owners, according to the release.
“Five years post acquisition, Jet Edge has gained significant distinction by climbing to the top in the business aviation industry and surpassing prominent veteran operators in overall flight hours, safety policies, fleet size, and charter flight activity,” said Bill Papariella, chief executive officer of Jet Edge.

Jet Edge also added several new key personnel in management, flight operations, and sales this year.

“As our company grows, we’re reminded of the outstanding contributions that every member of our staff brings to Jet Edge, further ensuring our success,” added Geoff Makely, executive vice president and general manager for Jet Edge. “The company absolutely embodies the modern workplace by providing an environment that welcomes new ideas from every staff member, invests in cutting edge resources across every department, and fosters both employee and client loyalty.”

Flexjet Accelerates Deliveries of Gulfstream G450 to Meet Strong Market Demand

Flexjet is a holding of Directional Aviation, along with Sentient Jet, Flight Options, Nextant Aerospace and several other private aviation holdings.

Flexjet LLC yesterday announced that it has accelerated deliveries of the Gulfstream G450™ business jet in response to heavy market demand. “With the G450, G650 and other advanced new aircraft entering our fleet, we are well-positioned to meet the needs and expectations of today’s fractional fliers.”

FexjetAccording to a release from Flexjet, the G450 is part of an order Flexjet placed in October 2014 for up to 50 aircraft, also including the G500™ and G650™, from Gulfstream’s iconic line of business jets. Through its close partnership with Gulfstream, Flexjet will closely monitor demand and collaborate with the manufacturer to accelerate deliveries and exercise any of the additional 26 options whenever possible.

“Since we took delivery of our first Gulfstream G450 aircraft in June, the response to these new long-range aircraft has been so robust that we have asked Gulfstream to move up delivery of our next two G450 aircraft to this fall, rather than mid-2016, as previously agreed to,” said Flexjet Chief Executive Officer Michael Silvestro. “Our sales for the year are up 20 percent and the marketplace clearly is hungry for extended-range products from Gulfstream. Stepping up our delivery schedule will help us to satisfy this appetite.”
